Community based learning is changing the way teachers teach and students learn. It was initiated by educators who recognized the difference between theory and talking to real people.

Several years ago a professor at Smith College, provided her economic students an opportunity to volunteer for six to eight weeks at the local nonprofit of their choice.

Anyone can participate by organizing a group willing to research proposed national or local legislation with the intent of sharing their conclusions with the local media.
