War and Peace
"We must have military power to keep madmen from taking
over the world."
Billy Graham
Billy Graham is an American evangelist, who is a leading spokesman for Fundamentalism. He embarked on a series of tours of the United Stares and
Europe. Graham is world-famous from his televised films, a radio program and numerous writings.
I agree with Billy Graham's statement, "We must have military power to keep madmen from taking over the world." Madmen go and do what they please without looking at the rulebook. Rules were invented to keep the world a happy place. Even with the rules it can get pretty out of hand. Just imagine how it would be with out rules at
all. The military or government I should say gives us those rules and restrictions that we as a society and being need.
Adolf Hitler is an excellent example of a madman. All he wanted was his way and he would make sure to do anything to get it. He was willing to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of lives to get what he wanted. World War II was brought on by military power to stop Hitler. If he was going to bring on all this hardship, pain, and suffering to get his way, then he was not going to succeed with out a fight from opposing countries.
Hitler had every intention of taking over Europe, and one day the whole world. If military power had not stepped in and interfered, he may have succeeded in his goal. If he had, where would we all be now?
I would like to think that after this horrible war, we would not have to worry about a madman trying to take over the world. The events of September 11th, 2001, have proven that to untrue. Once again, military power had to step in and stop a madman form taking over the world. Osama Bin Laden and the Talaban, like Adolf Hitler, wanted to take over the world. No country is willing to let some madman come into it and take away their rights, freedoms and home, not without a fight. Military power is that fight. It is the strength and defense of that country. It is what people rely on to continue living the life they are, and the way they choose.
'Romeo and Juliet,' written by William Shakespeare, is a form of literature that in some ways relates to Billy Graham's statement. The story of these two star crossed lovers is not about a madman, but merely about two young teens who dared to change their families lives as they knew it. The Montague's and the Capulet's were families that were sworn enemies for generations. They did not associate with one another let alone fall in love with each other. Romeo and Juliet however went against their families and fell in love. This caused a big war between the two families, and disrupted the calm streets. In the end of this tragedy, the two lovers kill themselves because that is the only way they can have their love and be together. The story is not about a madman, or military power that has to stop him, but it is a story that shows what happened to society when you try to disrupt the world, as we know it.
History has gone to prove that we will always need and always rely on military power to prevent madmen from taking over the world. The rules that are set to keep us going are there for reasons. They are there as a defense and a game plan. The rules deep things a float and fair. Every country is different, and each county has a different military with different strengths and weakness. All go to show they have one thing in common, to try and keep peace, and to fight to defend what is theirs. In the end and no mater what we do, there will always be some kind of madman who will brake the rules and try to take over the world.
