Anyone
may enter. Essays may be no less than 750 words or more than 1,000 words in
length. There are three categories:
(1)
Schools that submit a minimum of ten essays from one class.
Three
prizes will be awarded to every school that submits a minimum of ten qualifying
entries.
(2)
Schools with fewer than ten students submitting essays.
They
will have their essays merged with other schools in the same situation.
(3)
Individuals of any age.
They
will find their work displayed in a category called Unaffiliated and only if
there are at least ten entries will their essays be judged for prizes, so if you
enter this category make sure to encourage others to enter also.
Never
will an essay be judged against more than 30 essays in any category.
All
participants will receive certificates and their essays will be published
online. A written request by a participant to be listed as anonymous will be
honored.
The
prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the Singer Foundation.
Papers
may be emailed to staff@singerfoundation.org anytime before December 25, 2004.
Teachers must get all material to us six weeks before the date they want the
contest results.
