Who Has It and Who Doesn't and To What Degree

First   Prize    = $200
Second Prize = $100
Third  Prize    = $  75

Teens and older may enter. Essays may be no less than 750 words or more than 1,000 words in length. There are three categories:

(1) Schools that submit a minimum of ten essays from one class.
Three prizes will be awarded to every school that submits a minimum of ten qualifying entries.

(2) Schools with fewer than ten students submitting essays.
They will have their essays merged with other schools in the same situation.

(3) Individuals
They will find their work displayed in a category called Unaffiliated  if there are at least ten entries over the year.  These essays will be judged for prizes, so if you enter this category make sure to encourage friends and family members to enter also.

Never will an essay be judged against more than 30 essays in any category.

All participants will receive certificates and their essays will be published online. A written request by a participant to be listed as anonymous will be honored.

The prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the Singer Foundation.

Papers may be emailed to staff@singerfoundation.org anytime before December 25, 2005. Teachers must get all material to us six weeks before the date they want the contest results. Entries will not be returned, and upon submittal become the property of The Harry Singer Foundation.
