Surveys To Gather Information Online From Individuals

Or In Print Form For A Group To Use To Gather Information In The Community

This project was created as a classroom project but could be an after-school activity, or a project for a service club or local church group. It works even better with large groups.

The Harry Singer Foundation will guarantee funding for a certain number  of rewards to be agreed upon before a group undertakes this project.

To participate in this activity a group of ten or more would submit information they gather to the Foundation using either email or surface mail.

An individual who completes a survey online will be given an opportunity to choose a book or audio tape as a thank you gift from a list we will provide from our Resources. Please click here to access our online surveys.

Each member of a group must choose one local nonprofit and convince someone at the nonprofit organization to complete an informational survey. The next step is to gather Exchange Proposals from at least ten other members of the community.  Click here to browse illustrations of completed Exchange Proposals.

Members of a participating group should think about something they want for their community, church, troop, club or for themselves or their immediate family or neighborhood. Click here to print the form used to collect this information. The form is called an  Exchange Proposal, because it asks what a members of the community would be willing to do in exchange for having their stated wishes/dreams come true.

Armed with the Exchange Proposals (ten plus the student's personal proposal) another visit is arranged with the nonprofit interviewed earlier by each student. Using  the Exchange Proposal information gathered by the entire group, a student is now able to sit down with someone at the nonprofit agency and together create  a  minimum of twenty-five new jobs  according to specific criteria . Each member would then create a list of these jobs, now referred to as new volunteer opportunities.

The wishes in the Exchange Proposals are referred to as Rewards. Next students would compile a list of unfunded rewards by combining wishes from individual exchange proposals with wishes from nonprofit organizations.
