Specific Criteria
What makes AW different from the numerous attempts to connect communities?
So far the praiseworthy attempts to connect that we've reviewed, are plagued by searches that result in too few, too many or absolutely irrelevant results. AW let's the kids do it!
AW provides a limitless outlet for the natural creativity and exuberance found in all members of a community, no matter their age or experience. But AW goes one step further; it enhances classroom learning by making it relevant to the real world. AW channels student creativity and exuberance!
When discussing rewards we suggest a creative way a student could promote contributions to the Boys & Girls Club gymnasium; going so far as to attract a kindergarten class by allowing each five year old to give an exact number of roof shingles. If you wants the reward under your care sold to a potential volunteer or funder, you will package it with pizzazz; repackage it; break it down into smaller segments; pepper it with parties, parades, celebrations and treaure hunts. Kids are experts on FUN and possibilities.
Sample six is the skeleton that the kids will flesh out to sell job opportunities. A student works with a nonprofit and ends up with a number of jobs that are his/her responsibility. It's up to this student (let's call him George, as in "let George do it!") to nurture, to push forward to get these jobs adopted. He takes mundane descriptions and molds them into amazing opportunities that members of the community cannot possibly resist. Remember the 4-H Clubs? Rural kids still compete to raise the largest squash, the blue ribbon lamb. The results of an AW search is on point because all the creativity pent up in a young person can be unleashed in this classroom project. In the classroom the students compete and encourage each other to create the most enticing jobs.
