Biographical Information
_____________________________________________________________________________
Steve is a native of Fort Worth and long-time resident of Dallas, Texas. He and his wife Pat have been married for thirty-five years and have three adult children and four grandchildren.
A 1971 graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans, Steve holds a degree in Economics, as well as a Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation from the institute of Real Estate Management. He has been continuously licensed as a real estate broker for the last thirty-four years and has been a frequent speaker at various local, regional and national real estate functions. From 1972 through 1987, Steve was active in the development and general contracting businesses. In 1987, he accepted a senior management position at Balcor Property Management, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the American Express Company, where he oversaw leasing, management and capital expenditures for over 7.6 million square feet of commercial space in 30 markets throughout the U.S. In 1994, Steve left Balcor to become President of Wilcox Development Services, a Dallas-based commercial property development firm that he founded. In this position, he developed over three million square feet of premium office properties in Texas and California, with an aggregate value in excess of five hundred million dollars. Two of his development projects, JPMorganChase International Plaza (1.1 million square feet) in Dallas and the Sybase Corporate Headquarters in San Francisco (420,000 square feet) won nationally recognized awards.
In early 2003, Steve sold the majority of his U.S. business assets to devote more time to his personal interests. Since then, he and his wife have been spending significant time in the City of Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada. In late 2003, he formed Second Crossing Investment Corporation and Big Bend Development Corporation to pursue potential development opportunities in the Revelstoke area.
Steve began working in 2006 with Mel Kaplan, the co-founder of the Harry Singer Foundation, to develop Singer Kids 4 Kids, a new program to teach philanthropy to children at an early age and to assist private schools for children in underdeveloped countries.
