Programs At A Glance

When the opportunity arises we enjoy  working with other organizations with similar goals. Some of the programs described below are collaborations and others are operated solely by the Harry Singer Foundation. The Harry Singer Foundation has no paid staff and its programs are operated by dedicated and truly fantastic volunteers who have excelled in their varied and numerous past endeavors. We are very fortunate in this regard and grateful.

Transition to Teaching
The T2T program will provide two centralized services to corporations who are committed to transitioning retirees into California classrooms: powerful marketing campaigns that attract a pool of qualified retirees and strong public/private partnerships to screen, match, train and support them.  The emphasis is on math and science. What's in it for the kids? Whatever they want to be most likely requires math.

Singer-Kids-4-Kids
Singer-Kids4Kids is a fresh new concept that provides students in schools in developed countries the opportunity to assist students
and sponsor  schools in under-developed countries
.

The Human Nature Project
The goal of this project is to improve the chances that man will discover how to live with his kind in peace and tolerance, creating
a free, stable environment before he blows up or causes irrevocable damage to the planet.

The Philanthropy Channel
The Harry Singer  Foundation is currently joint-venturing the Philanthropy Channel with the John Templeton Foundation. This project will highlight the past and present trait of generosity through the media of film and a web TV channel. We are in the process of gathering stories from all sources, including foundations. We want to show what an individual, a small foundation or group of individuals is now doing, or has done, to alleviate a particular social challenge, through the generous use of their time, talent and treasure.

Essay Contests
These contests help HSF accomplish its goal of educating students and providing visitors to our web site with information often useful for political and personal decision-making.

Another Way
Another Way is the culmination of twenty years of Foundation experience; It combines and expands the best of two pilot programs:  White Hats and Alternatives For Local Governments Struggling With Limited Resources.

White Hats
White Hats is a program to honor and encourage volunteers and to publicize the many good things that are going on across the country in our schools and local communities.

Problem Solvers
Our goal is to have Problem Solvers incorporated into high school curricula across the country as a superior way to learn. A by-product is the idealism, enthusiasm and energy that teens can use to the benefit of their communities and the self esteem and recognition they will get as a consequence.

Workbooks
In the workbooks, students encounter the "unintended consequences" connected with social policy. They are required to request and analyze information from local and state authorities, and to solicit the help from members of the media and the opinions of influential members of their communities.
