A Compromise of Society

Hi honey, Im home! How many times have we heard this exclamation in our lives? Most television shows from the 1950s used this trademark to portray the perfect family in the perfect community. Shows like Leave it to Beaver and Father Knows Best are some of the famous portrayals of perfection. Communities then worked together to build a better living environment. Compared to communities now where it is basically a winner-take-all society. Children and teenagers today would rather spend time with their friends than family. In the days of yesteryear families spent time together and respected one another. So, it is our job to instill in the children of tomorrow the morals and values of the children of yesterday.
As a citizen of this country, I am disappointed in the way people behave. Todays youth are vandalizing and stealing, which results in towns setting curfews. Arent we raising our teenagers to be the leaders of this country? Parents should be involved in mandating laws to prevent their children from being out on the streets at night. Kids should be old enough to make their own decisions, yet parents still need to be involved. Cities have made new laws stating that anyone out after certain hours will be escorted home by a police officer. Along with being escorted home, a teen can receive other random punishments, which are set according to the crime. Parents should be the biggest influence in a childs life. Involvement in their childrens lives is the best gift a parent can give.
Another act todays teen may face is violence. Teenagers who have problems should seek the help of their parents, a teacher, a friend, or a counselor. Some schools have a counseling hotline setup where teens can call anytime and get help with their problems. This is a good way for people who have faced these problems to help others before it is too late. It gives students who feel as if nobody cares a reason to keep going. Our country should not have to resort to violence to get a message across. There are other ways out of depression besides violence. I if children visit with their parents, they will have more confidence to face the world.
One more difference between society today and society in the 1950s is women in the workforce. In the 50s most mothers did not work and their children came home to a cozy house that smelled of freshly baked cookies. They could sit at the kitchen table and rest after a hard day at school. Now that it is the norm for both parents to work, children are on their own until their parents get home. I it is good that both parents can work in todays society; however, if this is taking away from time with their children, something needs to be done. After-school activities are very popular at many schools, yet there are some students who choose not to participate. Therefore, a program should be set up to provide a place for youth to go after school to hang out with their friends or work on homework. If there is a drastic need for a program such as this, the community should ban together to come up with a good plan.
Finally, I parents and children should set aside a certain amount of time once or twice a week where they can sit down and talk or play a game. It does not matter what they do as long as they are together as a family. Even todays politicians are striving to spend more time with their families. They find time in their hectic schedule to spend with their children and spouse. Families should sit down and eat at least two or three meals a week together. While together they can visit about the days happenings, coming events, and many more adventures. In my opinion a family is a group where there should be a lot of love, happiness, and communication. With these key ingredients, we can raise good community leaders for our future.
The family is the most important aspect of a persons life. In the days of yesteryear families spent quality time together. As a society we need to instill in the children of tomorrow the morals and values of the children of yesterday. Children are out on the streets more and more each day. If we do not do something to prevent this from happening, our society will diminish in a short amount of time. Parents and children need to meet in the middle in order to make change work. People do not like to do the same routines over and over; therefore, we should have a program to provide a variety for our children. They should not have to resort to breaking the law to have fun. If everyone works together and accepts responsibility for his actions in the community, the results could be astounding.

Q3. According to Richard Eckersley, our collective goal should be getting healthier,
wealthier, happier, more satisfying and more interesting. He also states that now
we live in the future and what matters in our lives is important.
Q4. A worthy goal for our community would be to provide everyone with a home and make sure they have a hot meal during the day. Also, raising our children to have respect for their elders is a vital part of community life.
Q5. In my opinion we need to supply more than just toys for latchkey children. I agree with the statement made by Robert Litan that our society will become a winner-take-all setting. We need to see economic opportunity so we can close the socioeconomic gap between races.
Q6. Lawyers create a form of public responsibility and accountability that would not happen in an untrammeled democracy. We resist high taxes to sustain it, and that is part of the explanation of why we have lawyers taking on so many functions in another society that might be taken on by government or civil service. Lawyers help to achieve what the economists call economics of scale. these rules and processes help to regularize an organizations activities, and save money on human interactions.
Q7. Punitive damages were designed to make the company absorb the real cost of the activity rather than to pay off the one loud plaintiff and write it off as the cost of doing business. Regulation is a law put into play for a reason. I would rather go with regulation. They are easier for people to understand and get along with.
Q8. There are three ways society will benefit from the retirement of baby boomers. The first way will be when retirees start up their own business, they may hire young people or other retirees to work for them.. Years of experience and extensive business contracts will make older workers highly competitive. The second way will be the elderly who stay home. They will provide opportunities for teenage entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurial nanny services, operated by and employing young people to perform duties for the elderly. The third way society will benefit will be by providing the growing elderly market with home health care, shopping, travel and recreation, and real estate services.
Q9. I dont believe that it is going to make an impact on society. First, we will have to overcome discrimination. There are more poor whites than poor blacks who live in the United States. Next, policies toward minority- owned businesses are unbalanced. Lastly, there is too little emphasis put on financial markets in poor areas.
Q10. Truett Cathy and Tom Lewis have several things in common. First, they both believe that actions speak louder than words. Second, they both had obstacles to overcome in pursuit of their dreams. They are also both entrepreneurs with the help of children in mind.
