"The role model of the 1950's would probably be a heroic G.I. Joe type person who is very patriotic, is strong in his beliefs for God and his country.  In the 1990's, the role model is a gang member who sings about killing and doing drugs and how his government oppresses him."
Keith Wohwlend, Kiona-benton High School, Benton City, Washington

"Irresponsibility can be changed, it's just not going to happen overnight.  With a growing sense of patriotism and respect for other si t can be accomplished... There has  to be retro-moralization, to bring back the good 'ol days when kids spent quality time with their families, and every man got, as Theodore Roosevelt proposed, 'a square deal, no more and no less'. Bennett suggests that this education of high morals starts with social and civic institutions.  He says they need to engage in the architecture of souls."
