Personal Responsibility
By Christen Marteney
Grade 12
Personal responsibility is a giant step in improving the quality of a community to make it a safe place to live. There are many ways to improve responsibility of the people of the community, such as getting involved in after school activities, parental raising and [restricting] the distribution of guns. School activities, parental raising and the distribution of guns are just some of the ways people can become responsible in improving the quality of life in our community.
Students today are the future and the life style depends on what they do as young children. Many students that try to get involved in school activities have come out of high school with great leadership. Being in an extracurricular activity helps students realize what responsibilities they will need as the future of graduating and getting out into the real world may be upon them. When students realize what their personal responsibilities or duties are, they become more knowledgeable of what is expected of them as adults. School activities help students realize that being responsible and getting things done for the group on time is a big step in having people trust in them. School activities may not just be for what happens in our own community, but of what also happens in different countries when being a student in a foreign language club. Being in school activities gives students the chance to show others how responsible and helpful one can be to a community when away from friends that may change the way they act. School activities let the personal responsibilities of a student truly come out for everyone to see that that one person cares about the community he or she might live in or raise their children in that same community.
People seem to think that parents play a big role in how their children will grow up, and they do. As adults when men and women decide to raise a family, they better be ready for the responsibilities that come with the child. Parents need to understand what they must do to make their children understand things that are right from wrong .The personal responsibilities of the parent sometimes reflect on how a child may be as an adult. Parents must take the responsibilities that their child might take in the community. Many parents want their child to grow up in a good community; however, the parents need to be responsible for part of the environment that the child grows up in. The personal responsibility of the parent gives the child the ability to improve the quality of life in the community by being there for their child whenever needed. Part of a parents responsibility is to always make sure that their child is being taken care of and that the childs life can be as fun as the next childs can. The life of a child in a community is very important because in the future that child may be a big factor on how a community will grow and at the same time that same young child has taken in the personal responsibilities of that big job. Being a parent and giving the correct advice to a child is the most challenging thing for a parent to do so that in the future that same child will use the same examples that his or her parents showed as their own responsibilities for that child in the community.
In the past few years the scare of guns has overwhelmed every community in the United States of America. This all starts with the distribution of the guns. Owners of gun shops need to be responsible people knowing what should and should not be sold to people. The sellers can help improve the community by being responsible and locking the store and keeping the guns in a locked area were no one could get control of the gun without buying it. Another way of being responsible is by getting background checks of every person that may be interested in buying a gun. Keeping the guns out of the hands of people that should not have them is a very important part of improving the quality of life in any community. People that have guns must have the responsibility of knowing what to use the guns for. Many guns are used for hunting and for the military to protect our country freedom not to be taken to schools to be used as retaliation to a person because he or she was not liked very much.

There are many ways to improve the responsibility of the people of the community such as getting involved in after school activities, parental raising, and the distribution of guns. The quality of improving the life in a community begins with the personal responsibilities of all the people in that community.
