Communities

12th Grade
Communities should be a place where
people know one another, grow up together and help one another in times of need. Families
who are involved with one another should expand their love throughout their neighborhood
and community. Businesses within a community should feel a great sense of pride in what
they can do for their employees and throughout the town. Also, volunteering for a
non-profit group in the community can really make a difference.
Being a family is one of the most
rewarding and enjoyable experiences that everyone should be a part of. Being close to people who work together for the
same goal is a wonderful way to build character and instill values in young people today.
Although many times younger and older generations think that they do not have a lot in
common, it is surprising to realize that there really are similarities that they share. In
fact, most of the grandparents are just like grown up kids. They have been there and done
that, and now they can help others get through those difficult decisions in life. Families
should not only have meals together and discuss their problems with one another, but they
can also set a good example for the neighborhood in which they live. Neighborhoods should
also be like big families; granted not everyone gets along, but sometimes people need the
reassurance that there are others who care about them.
Each neighborhood that comes together and tries to improve itself allows other
neighborhoods to see that they can do the same thing. Many neighborhoods standing together
can show that supporting one another is how families can grow into something that can
change not only a community, but also a whole nation.
Many families have businesses right
in the community where they live, and by doing so, they can have a great impact on that
community. They have the opportunity to contribute their time and money to local schools,
charities and family oriented programs. Being involved with school activities such as a
bake sale or school sports store means so much to many of the children involved. They know
they are cared for, and that means more than anything to them. Also, Employers should see
the real need of education in the world today. Encouraging children to further their
education is a wonderful part of being involved. Not only children, but adults as well
should be encouraged to further their education. Many times having a family to support
often makes it necessary for an adult to go back to school, but some people may feel
embarrassed to go to college when they are older. Fortunately,
if the community will stand behind their decision, it makes it easier for that particular
person to obtain their college degree. Sometimes simply taking the time to encourage
someone is enough to make him realize that he can achieve his hopes and dreams.
Volunteering for an organization in
the community can make a big difference not only in the community, but also in the lives
of those who volunteer. Recently, recycling
has become a very important part of society. There is a need to recycle plastics, papers,
glass and cans. People are becoming more
aware of the problems that burning trash can result in. Not only recycling, but litter
prevention is also making an impact. There are programs such as adopt a highway that many
families are involved in. Families can
volunteer to help aid in these projects together, and many times a whole neighborhood will
be encouraged to help out. Remembering that
age has no limit as to how much a single person can contribute is a fact that is sometimes
forgotten. All people willing to help can
utilize their talents by making posters or singing. Others
can help by supervising events and getting the necessary materials ready to make sure
everything flows together, as it should. The
most important thing to remember is that acting together is the best way to accomplish a
common goal.
A community and its support are very important in the lives of those that it consists of. Each family helps to make the community what it is, so if a family is close, a community will be close. Not only families, but businesses need to put pride into the community by contributing not only their money, but their time and encouragement. By doing this, others will see how important it is to be a volunteer and take pride in their community as well. Generally speaking, if the people support the community, the community will support the people who take pride in it.

In The United States and Manus
marriage is often regarded as company investments; however, each have its own end results.
Instituting marriage in the United States has always been a tradition. Unfortunately, this
tradition is seemingly more referred to as a trend that comes and goes. The
American society has allowed itself to become a nation where as long as no ones
feelings are hurt, then everything will turn out fine. There are unmarried couples living
together, paying the bills together, and raising children together who assume that because
they act as if they are married, society will accept them as they are.
The society of Manus, also having economic relationships, allows marriages at a price. The families of the couple brings their finances into the marriage, people from each side of the family pair up with another and as the new couples family grows, trades are made among the in-laws. The families seem very close and encourage each new marriage, unless of course the man participating in the marriage has had many previous wives.

Q3.
According to Richard Eckersley, our
collective goal should be, to dematerialize society without reducing quality of
life. By stating this, he means for us
as a society to grow and prosper, while still considering the outcomes of our growth. Everyone deserves the right to be happy; however,
if our growth and expansion causes such things as pollution or death, then the system is
not working to our advantage. When our technological advances compromises our quality of
life, then they really are not advantages. They
turn into our sacrifices for the future of American society.
Q4.
A good goal for any community is to
make sure the people are involved and that there are not just a few main people that
affect the way everyone thinks. People need
to know that they are important and that what they think is important. When there are more people involved, many more
opinions are brought into consideration other than those that have always been heard. The community, of course, cannot expect for things
to happen overnight, but by offering incentives and alternative tasks, things could
progress for the better. The further
government is away, the harder it is to change it. Therefore,
if more people are willing to donate their time and effort, they will be able to shape
their community into what it should be.
Q5.
With a considerable lack of morals
being instilled in youth today, it seems difficult to predict wheather there will be a
concern of which race people belong to. In
one hand, children are murdering each other because of how they dress, which side of the
street they were born on and even because of the sports they play. While on the other hand, mothers are killing their
own children before they are born, by having abortions.
Without morals being a standard base for children to grow from, it is hard to say
how far society will allow itself to stray before it snaps.
Q6.
Since the United States is a
democracy lawyers are helpful in the sense that people can communicate their problems to
them, instead of to the American nation. We
as citizens do not want the government to have total control over our lives, and so
therefore we go to someone who can help us without controlling us. Lawyers can many times persuade opposite parties
to settle their disputes without going to court. They
allow us to take responsibility and be accountable for our actions, without dictating to
us our lives. Also, because the U.S. is so
diverse, many people disagree about customs and traditions that others have. Lawyers can help to serve as mediators between two
or more disagreeing groups; this process helps to maintain the concept that everyone is
equally important. Being equally important also includes wealth or the lack thereof. Because the United States does not base the rights
of people on how much money they make, they are not denied their rights to a lawyer under
the law. The vast land that we live in also
allows for lawyers to help aid in general disputes throughout the land. With the aid of a lawyer, processes and procedures
can be put into effect that will increase the society's impact on government, not the
impact of government on society.
Q7.
Rather than seeing mini-thermometers
put on foam cups, punitive damages seem to be the route to go. When someone buys a cup of coffee, it isnt
so they can warm it up when they get to work; they want a warm cup of coffee. Not only in the case of coffee, but others as
well. It doesnt seem fair that a whole
nation should suffer just because someone made the choice to drink a cup of coffee on the
way to work. Technically speaking, why should there be drive-thrus in the first
place? People are always on the go, and want
things as quickly as they can get them. Unfortunately, when it comes to taking
responsibility for our own actions, it is many times much easier to put the blame on
someone else. Putting aside your personal
anger and looking at the real situation at hand can be helpful. Accidents can happen when you least expect them.
Q8.
With the coming retirement of baby
boomers society has the wonderful opportunity of coming together and sharing their
knowledge. The youth of society have been
exposed to many new and difficult situations, but one positive experience is mentoring. Mentoring programs allow children to learn and
understand concepts from the people whom they respect.
In return, the baby boomers who are mentoring to the children have the satisfaction
of knowing they are sending children into the world with moral experiences. While helping their children, the adults also feel
a sense of security, because they know they can function with their children, and also
children with other children. Everyone
functioning together allows many retirees to reenter the work force by becoming
entrepreneurs. Their experience and knowledge
of the business field can help to ensure jobs for the new generation of workers, the same
ones who have been mentored to and nurtured during their childhood. With society functioning together as a whole, then
everyone can learn something new everyday.
Q9.
An anti-poverty program is one that
should be taken into consideration; however, much nurturing is involved in the process. Before the government starts throwing our money
around, it needs to consider that education should be a top priority. One cannot expect a child to crawl one day, walk
the next and be running by the end of the week. Just
as fairly, it cannot be expected for uneducated and inexperienced people to borrow money
and automatically know how to run their own business.
These people do deserve the right to have this opportunity, but first they should
be aware of how a business operates. Funding
is not all that people need. They need
instruction and experience. Then fund them
and allow them to use their new skills. People
get discouraged when they fail, so give them wings before you push them out of the tree.
Q10.
Truett Cathy and Tom Lewis are both
very extraordinary men. They each have been
inspired to help those who are in need. First
of all, they both started building their dreams from the bottom up. They wanted something and made it happen. Their projects both focus on God, and He is shown
to others through their work. The
childrens lives that each of these men touch will be changed forever. The common
qualities that each of these men share are rare in society today and should be held in the
highest regard.
