Marriage
By Amanda Farr
Grade:10

Getting married used to be required before having sex, living together and having babies. Today it is not uncommon to have children without dealing with all of the legalities. With so many people in this world, we tend to be feeble-minded. When I say feeble-minded, I mean that many people change their minds too often.

When things, or people, start getting old, we brush them away. With marriage becoming less and less important to many people, the more people are becoming sexually active before marriage. This may lead to many serious problems. Many religions enforce the concept of marriage. Many people who are sexually active are not married. Those who are married are showing responsibility. When you agree to marriage you are committing yourself to one person who you should spend the rest of your life. Marriage is a great responsibility that many choose not to take.

Many teens are starting to become sexually active. In doing so they piece many dangers upon themselves. Teenage pregnancies are becoming common in young girls around the ages of nine and up. This is starting to become a serious problem. Many of these girls are tempted and do not think of the consequences of becoming pregnant. Of course there are many consequences of becoming pregnant at such a young age.

Over half of these teenage girls are going to drop out of school so they can care for their child. If they do not choose to drop out, then they will have the hardest life tripled. Having a child is such a great responsibility. Nine years old is way too young to even be thinking about sex. How can these children, being babies themselves, take care of babies.

You may be wondering where your father is during all of this. Many guys choose not to take the responsibility of the child. Although many are there through everything, but it is rare since these guys are so young.

Teenage pregnancies can safely be lowered. Choosing abstinence to the best way to knowing you will not have to start caring for a child. Children are there from the day of conception until they day of death. Young girls just do not think about things like that. If you  choose to have safe sex you need to be protected. There are so many things going around today. There is no way of knowing who has what.

Condoms are the main protection of diseases and pregnancies. Condoms are used to prevent pregnancy, but may not always protect you from viruses such as AIDS or HIV. Other diseases are heroes and gonorrhea. Since viruses are so small, they can seep through the tiny holes in a condom. You take that responsibility when you choose to be sexually active.

Usage of drugs and alcohol may cause a person to become sexually active. When you use drugs your brain is not capable of making the most reasonable decisions. You become so delusional when you are high that you can make many mistakes. Your stupid mistake could last until you die.

Alcohol goes to your stomach and then goes to your blood stream, When it reaches your brain you become relaxed. You start doing spontaneous things that you would not normally choose to do sober. You also start feeling like you do not care and you will not care what is going on around you.

Another consequence of choosing alcohol is death. When you are drunk and you set foot behind the wheel you are putting yourself and everyone else who is with you in danger. Drinking relaxes your muscles so you can not react to things in your way. Reckless driving brings sorrow and death to people every year. Much unhappiness is caused by drunk drivers.

Underage drinking is another serious problem that faces the us everyday. Teenagers who drink may not be drinking responsibly and will more than likely drink too much. If you are underage you should choose someone to drive who is sober. Of course you could have acted more responsible and not have drunk at all.

Everyday I am faced with many challenges. I am pressured from my friends and peers to do things that are not the very best of things to do. I believe that my personal responsibility can reflect on others. If I choose to do the right things, then I may influence many young children that may look up to me. Changing their views about being responsible is the first step in changing one community at a time.
