Everyday Community Responsibility

Everyone, young of old, male or female has many responsibilities in his or her life. Teenagers worry about school activities and their future. Adults worry about bills and their jobs. But, no matter what individuals have all sorts of responsibilities.

           

Our everyday responsibilities are what make us unique. Some people chose to be hard working, while others are lazy and disrespectful. But, every person choose their own life style and personality as well. With these characteristics, a community has a chance to improve. For example, if a community as a whole were equally responsible then there would be fewer problems, like violence, family or neighborly disputes.

           

Developing a good community always begins at home. There always needs to be some sort of discipline and rules for kids to follow at home. Parents must also treat the children as young adults and give them responsibilities that they should fulfill. But, most of all children must give their utmost respect to their parents and themselves as well.

           

If there is no respect towards parents, there is a guarantee that there will be no respect towards other people. But much worse if a person does not have self-respect, and then it is likely that a teenager does not care about anyone not even himself or herself. That is why a good healthy home environment is the key to a better community. This way kids are tough from right and wrong and know how to make choices that will benefit their community as a whole.

           

Responsibility in a community means that every individual respect each other’s space. By respecting other people’s property and individual space, responsibility is accomplished. By accomplishing this everyone will be happier and have fewer problems with each other. Respect as well as personal responsibility, make a community more prosperous as a whole.

           

If there is no responsibility or respect among people then there is no cooperation. This can cause many disputes and arguments among people. Teenagers then are not controlled and do not care about anything in life. This causes some teenagers to rebel and turn into the wrong path of life.

           

Some examples of teenagers going through wrong choices because of their own personal responsibilities would be teenage girl pregnancy, which is very common in today’s society. Teenage drug use is even costing some teenagers their lives. These and other examples are suicide and teenagers running away from home. These problems could be prevented by giving teenagers advice, support, but mostly having a lot of patience as parents and enforcing self- respect characteristics in their children.

           

Some people in today’s community believe that both responsibility and respect of a whole community make a child better and a more respectful person. In most cases, I believe this is true, depending on the teenager’s conscience. It also depends on the teenager’s peers and whom they act. If a teenager hangs around violent disruptive kids, it is more than likely they will follow their friend’s behavior. But, if a teenager hangs around hard –working, honest kids, they are much better off. Many kids fall into peer pressure because they feel that their friends are the only people that love and care for them. In most cases, that is not the case, but the teenager is confused about making responsible choices.

           

In all honesty, teenagers need to choose if they want to be responsible, respectful people or hang out with the wrong crowd. A community can do everything such as start community projects or after school activities. But, the teenagers are the ones that choose their own lives and choices. Since some teenagers do not care about responsibility, with each individual doing his or her own part, things can always change for the better. But, each person I believe has to follow his or her own conscience and morals and be responsible. Children need to know, beginning at a young age the difference between right and wrong. Parents have a big role in enforcing these rules on their children.

           

Since children look up to their parents, love them and respect them, it is only common sense that parents are a child’s first role model. That is why it is up to the parents to enforce responsibility in their children. Teaching children to respect people and be responsible would make the world a better place. By doing this children will have a better understanding of how to act towards others.  

 

By everyone in a community taking their part to take care and guide children to a good path many things can be accomplished. There would not be that much violence or gangs. Since the children were thought to be responsible, they would know what is right and wrong. As a result of everyone’s personal responsibility, life in a community can always be improved.

 

ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS

 

1- The way that society invests in marriage in the USA is that marriages in the USA are not taken seriously. The couples now a days all get married in a rush or do not get married at all but have children. The way that society invests in marriage in Manus is that they take marriage very seriously and concentrate on how financially stabled both of the partners in the marriage are.

 

 

2- First couple both have been married ones for a total of 3 years. In order to have a good marriage you need to have a lot of love, respect and patience for each other.

 

Second couple both have been married only once for a total of 2 years. Their advice for a happy, long relationship is to really respect and care for one another. Also to have a lot of patience for what you will be getting into.

 

Third couple both have been married only once for a total of 15 years. Their advice for a happy, long relationship is to have a lot of trust toward each other and to really know that you love that person.

 

Fourth couple both have been married once for a total of 3 years. Their advice for a happy, long lasting relationship is to have total trust and confidence in the person that you will be spending a long time with.

 

Fifth couple have both been married twice for 2 years. Their advice far a happy, long lasting relationship is to be able to communicate and have trust in your spouse.

 

Sixth couple have both been married once for a total of 7 years. Their advice for a happy, long lasting relationship is to fully know and trust that person before you choose to get married.

 

Seventh couple have both been married only once for a total of 50 years. Their advice for a happy, long lasting relationship is to really love and have total confidence and trust in the person that you choose to marry.

 

Eighth couple have both been married once for a total of 1 year. Their advice for a happy, long lasting relationship is to love and respect the person that you will be living with for a long time.

 

Ninth couple have been married only once for a total of 9 years. Their advice for a happy, long lasting relationship is to respect each other and to be able to communicate as well.

 

Tenth couple have been married twice for a total of 2 years. Their advice for a happy, long lasting relationship is to be able to understand and communicate with each other.

 

3- According to Richard Eckersley our collective goal should be to dematerialize society. Eckersley says we should do this, but without reducing the quality of life.

 

4- A worthy goal for my community would be to set up more after school activities for kids that will keep them off the streets. This will include setting up basketball facilities, more parks, indoor pools, and hopefully more computers in the library.

 

5- In the excerpts from “Tomorrows Children”, I believe that Richard Eckersley has a point about the children in toady’s world. Parents now a days want to give their children everything that they need, but what they do not realize is that they are not spending enough time with their children. The parents are too busy wanting to provide for the family that they forget to demonstrate their love and support to their children. As a result the children feel neglected by their parents and are left with no comfort, but that of their toys.

 

6- According to Kathleen Sullivan the fact that the USA is a democracy make lawyers more helpful is that they help people settle disputes among themselves and open up cases that will benefit the people.  In diversity lawyers are helpful in the sense that they help control diversity and help lessen agreement about social customs. In wealth lawyers help by figuring out what laws can help to enforce the basic needs that the people will need. Some of these needs are Medicare, Medicaid, and human longevity.

In size lawyers are helpful in the sense that they help people save money by repeating transactions, procedures and rules that enable the same kind of transaction to take place. This is done to help people who do not know each other much make cheaper inexpensive transactions with each other.

 

7- I believe that bad practices are changed by punitive damages. The reason I believe that this is so is because of the fact that if we would do it by regulations then there would be a lot of regulations that will follow. But punitive damages I believe a right to the point and will not take up that a lot of time and be right to the point. No, I honestly can not think of any other alternative.

 

8- The way that society would benefit from the coming retirement of baby boomers is that older workers will be hired which will make them more competitive.  The elderly who stay home might provide opportunities for the teenage entrepreneurs. The older people might also go into business for themselves and provide many sorts of services to other people.

 

9- In a sense, I believe that President Clinton’s anti- poverty program will not work. The reason that I say this is because of the fact that some people in today’s society are not fully devoted to helping other people, but themselves. Also in some points in society, money will not always be as fluent and p the working people will not want to help as much. But, the reason I believe that this program will not work out is that some people believe that the poor want to be poor just because they are lazy, so they choose not to help.

 

10- Three things that Truett Cathy and Tom Lewis have in common is that they are both people that want to help the less fortunate. They both want to change some bad thing in life and make good out of it . But most of all they just want to try to make the world a better, safer and more prosperous place for the present and the next generation of children to come. As well as giving them a solid educational foundation and prepare them for the tough future up ahead.
