How Responsibility Helps Our Community

by Bailey Rock
Grade 10

Responsibility is a major part of our lives.  Most well-off communities have responsible and hard working people.  People today should teach their kids responsibility.  Teaching them to be responsible helps keep our communities safe.

One thing that I think is important for making responsible people is having a good family life.  If you never have a family life and are always doing what you want to, you will never learn to be responsible.  People are better off if they have a family life growing up.  I think that it is good for kids to have family meals and have somebody to watch television with and play with.  It helps them learn responsibility if they have parents that don't let them do ever thing they want to.  In order for parents to help their children become responsible, they should give them chores like dusting the furniture or doing the dishes.  Little things like that help them learn responsibility.  Having both parents living together helps also.  It helps them learn responsibility.  I think when a child is little, having one parent at home most of the time helps.  That way they get to spend time at home with one of their parents.  A good family is a good way to learn responsibility.

Belonging to a group of kids clubs is also a good way to learn to be responsible.  Belonging to 4-H or some other kind of club helps our community and also helps children learn responsibility.   I was in 4-H for about five years.  I know it taught me about responsibility and we also did a lot to help our community.  We had blood drives once a year.  Every summer, we would get the 4-H club together and clean and mow the cemetery and church yard.  Every few weeks we would do this to help the community.  We would also set up days once or twice a year to clean road ditches.  We would go caroling to the senior citizens home every Christmas.   We did a lot of good things to help the community and learn responsibility

I was in another club called FBLA, or Future Business Leaders of America.  We did many different fund raisers.  We had a haunted house and a dash for cash.  We also sold flowers on Valentine's Day.  We had a car wash to raise money, and we also sold T-shirts.  We did all of these things for the community.  It taught how to have responsibility.

Another good club or organization is a church group like the Church Council or Ladies  Aid.  Another responsible act would be to become a Sunday School or Bible School teacher.  I taught Bible School two summers ago.  Doing work for the church is a good way to learn responsibility and help my community.

A way to help keep our community safe is to teach children about drugs and violence.  If you don't teach them about drugs, the drugs will eventually lead to violence.  What has happened in many schools with all the violence is sad and scary.  People need to teach their kids about violence.  I think having responsible, young people helps keep our community safe and that is why we need to teach our kids about violence.  I know that my parents taught me all about those things.  They taught me right from wrong and taught me about drugs and violence.  It would  be terrible if a tragedy like the Columbine High School shooting happened in our school or any schools close to us.  This is why we need to teach our children about violence.  If children knew about Gangs, drugs and violence, there probably wouldn’t be so much of this around today.  So, we should remember to teach our children about violence to keep our communities safe.

Being well educated and going to school helps you learn a lot of responsibility.  I know that going to school had helped me learn responsibility.  You have to make sure that you get good grades, or you won’t pass.  If you always loose everything, and never pay attention, you will never learn anything.   Some people think that school is just a waste of time, but it is not.  It teaches us many things that will help us in life.  If you don’t go to school, you will know hardly any math, English, or science that will help you  get a job.   People who  are doctors and teachers don’t quit school.  They go to school to get a good education.   They have learned responsibility and tried to succeed.  School can be really tiring, and we can get really sick of it,  but it does help us.

All of the things I have told you about today are things that can help us be good

people and held our community.  The topics I have discussed have can teach us a lot about what we can do to help our communities.  So try to help o communities be safe for the next generation.

Q6-How does the fact the USA is a democracy make lawyers particularly helpful, according' to Kathleen Sullivan?  How does our diversity, wealth and size make lawyers particularly helpful?

The fact that the USA is a democracy makes lawyers helpful because our democracy acts as individuals.  They help keep us from particular dangers.  Lawyers help with diversity because we are a heterogeneous society.  The heterogeneity brings more conflict and not so much argument about social customs; this is where the law steps in. Lawyers are important in wealth because we are a very wealthy society.  Lawyers help us get some things we need.  They help in size because we are vast in size.  The lawyers help us in some of our businesses.
