The Role A Person Plays In Improving
Quality Of Life In Our Communities
Today
by Christopher Kendrick
Grade 10
Our country has developed many problems over the years for itself but the government has hired people solve these problems, but these people cannot solve these problems by themselves they need help. That's why we citizens of this country need to help out.
Marriage
Marriage these days is a big deal. Many people have been through divorce or are going through a divorce right now. Divorce rates are rising every year and that isn't very good. I believe that many people get a divorce than try to stay together because it's too easy now days to get a divorce. I say that we need to make it harder for a couple to get a divorce and maybe they might rethink about getting a divorce and try to make their marriage work. I say that the U.S. needs to develop a system that a couple has to go through before they get married. They should be given a test with a few marriage problems and then they would have to tell each other how they would solve it, also we should also come up with a pre-marriage program in which the couples would have to be in before they get married. This program should last about 6 months, because most marriages that end up in divorce are couples who were only married about 4 months. After the 6 months have passed the couple will be given the decision if they want to still get married and I believe that this would decrease the divorce rate a great deal.
Volunteers
Volunteers are very important to society now days in America. Most small and medium town, and also big cities too, depend on volunteers for many jobs in their communities. Like the local fire departments in small and medium towns.
There are also many big organizations that are made up of volunteers. The major one that I know of is the Red Cross. The Red Cross consists of many volunteers, and they go to wherever there is a big disaster, Eke a place that is having a flood or a place that had just been through a tornado or a hurricane or pretty much a disaster of such. I think that we need to get an organization that funds such things and also raise money so that we could give the volunteers to show how much we appreciate their efforts. I believe that we should all try to be a volunteer in some way. The first thing that I would do is I would have a sheet and people would come to sign up to volunteer for stuff that they like doing. Because we need to help out our country in some way.
Community
organizations
Communities today are starting to fall apart because of gangs and violence. We need to develop new and fun organizations to get the kids off the streets, get the old out of their houses and bring them together and maybe if these two generations work together they may begin to finally start understanding each other. I believe that if we did this that the crime rates would drop quit a bit because it's the children on the streets that create the problems and it would help the city out a lot.
Social
services
Social services was created to help out those who needed help while they try and get back on their feet today, income are low enough get on it and they know that the Government will keep producing the financial aid and so they don't even try to go out and even look for a job. I think that the government should give these people a certain amount of money so they would be ok and then give them a time limit to get a job. They would have to reply back to the government if they got a job. If they did not get a job in that time limit, the places that would not give them a job would have to reply back to the government. If the person that's trying to get a job didn't even go out and try, they would receive a warning from the government saying that they will cut them off if they do not even try to get a job. I believe that if they got that warning that they would try to get a job and I believe that this would get a lot of people off the social services program and that would help the country out immensely.
I believe that if we followed the topics that I described in this essay it would help out a little, even though some of the ways I said to do things wouldn't work it would still be worth trying.
