Making the Community a Better Place For
Everyone
By Jana van der Paardt
12th Grade
Everyone should help to make the community a well-rounded, safe, fun place to live. Its easy and people will have a feeling of satisfaction, therefore making people feel better about who they are. By simply showing children a good path to take in life or joining clubs will help the community work together as one. People could also help by obeying the simple laws which are applied in the community. This includes not littering. Keeping our world clean is great for the future.
While children are in school, parents should teach the young ones to start out their lives by doing activities to feel good about who they are. Children can help make the community a better place by getting good grades or at least trying their best. Succeeding in school will make students feel good about themselves.
Students should try to maintain this feeling of excellence while they grow by joining sports and other activities provided for them in their schools. Sports will provide entertainment to many other individuals of the community. These activities will also provide a healthy life for those who decide to join. Human beings will naturally do better in life if they are healthy. If people feel good, then they're more likely to do well. If the general population is healthy, then there will be less people missing work.
Other clubs such as Future Farmers of America and Future Homemakers of America provide some entertainment with their shows of animals and their other displays. Choir, band, and drama are also forms of entertainment for the "grown-up" community. The students in sports and clubs help make the community better known. The youth will also be recognized and rewarded, if they decide to be in these clubs and activities.
Teenagers should stay in school to give themselves a foundation in life. They will also help the communitys education ratings rise. Being in school will provide friends and acquaintances for the future. There arent many people who will argue against the statement that we, as loving human beings, will always need friends in life. Some of the other people that are met in school--teachers, counselors, other faculty and students-- will be helpful later in life. These acquaintances will provide guidance, support, and love if ever needed in the future.
Helping others individually is a good way to improve the way the community gets along. For instance, if two people dont get along, then there will be conflict. If this conflict is not resolved, it may eventually brew into a bigger matter than it should be. Also, if everyone gets along, then the community will cooperate more. For instance, if theres a community picnic, then everyone will have a good time. There wont be as many trials against one another if everyone helps one another. Thats less money wasted and more money can be put towards the communitys needs. That money can be used for funding for better roads and more parks.
Obeying the laws will help to keep the community safe for everyone. Helping to enforce them will provide a better place for children to play and grow. Its easy to take thirty seconds to stop the car and allow a pedestrian to cross. If teenagers obey the curfew, itll benefit them in the future. The law for the community may change the curfew time and make it later if the law is obeyed. (Another small fun fact is if someone has a sibling, when the older of the two reaches the legal age, then he can be out when his little brother or sister has to stay home.)
The quote globally means locally holds true for making the community a better and cleaner place to live. Keeping the community clean is a good role for people of all ages. Raking the leaves keeps the yard clean and looking nice while being a fun family project. The leaves can be thrown into the compost or on the garden for fertilization. Having a compost pile will help to eliminate a lot of the trash that is thrown away in the community. Not only will it help the world, but itll also help the surrounding community where many people live.
Walking in the woods can be pleasant, unless there is people's trash lying on the trails. Littering can be harmful to nature in a number of ways. Animals and people could all be affected by what human beings throw on the ground. There are a lot of state parks that have programs to help keep their parks clean. People can sign up to adopt a trail. The volunteers walk the trails once or twice a week while picking up trash on their chosen trail.
Recycling is another way of helping the world and the community. It doesn't take much time or effort. The local garbage company will even pick up the recycled items along with the trash.
One more way to save on the amount of pollution and to save money is car-pooling. People release huge amounts of carbon monoxide into the air just from driving their automobiles every day. There are now specially made vehicles available that don't pollute as much as older cars. Also, battery operated cars will soon be available. Walking or biking is a healthy way to get around without having to drive.
Helping to make the community a better place to live also helps society. If we can all take that little extra time out of our day to help, it'll make the world a better and safer place for everyone and many future lives.
