Making the Community A Better Place
By Nick Hetfeld
I feel that for a person to help
improve the life in our community, we have to do many things. We would have to be involved
in our community by making our way of life the way we want it to be by paying our taxes
and paying those taxes on time, voting, support our local school, advertising our
community to other people, and do what we feel is the right thing to do.
By making our life the way we want it
to be, means that we will be happy. When we are happy we put more into our work and more
gets done. If we are happy then the things that we do for the community will put one
hundred percent on our project for the community, which will make our community a better
place. When we do things while we are angry and sad, things just don't get done right.
Things don't look as good as they would have been if we are happy.
We must pay our taxes for our
community, state, and our federal government. We don't pay either one of our taxes; we
will get ourselves into a lot of trouble. We may have to pay a big fine or even spend some
time in our local jail. By paying our taxes the government will give us a lot of things in
return. We will get policemen, firefighters, roads to drive on, protection other
countries, and many other things that could go on this list.
If we pay our taxes we will be
helping the policeman fight crime so the streets are safer for not only ourselves, but
everyone else in the community. We will be helping our road conditions so that they are
safer to drive and we won't have a lot of car accidents.
I feel that it is a very good idea to
vote for not only our federal government and state positions, but we should also vote for
all of our county and community positions. We may think that it won't affect us but it
may. We may have a break in and have to work with the Sheriff. If we don't get along with
that Sheriff at all we might have problems trying to help him out while he tries to help
us out. Now I realize that even if we don't vote we may not get the guy that we wanted,
but at least we tried to get him into office. If we didn't vote well then we are just
letting everybody else vote for us.
Supporting our local school is a
great way to help our community out. We should support school activities, like going to
athletic events or the school play. All that money that we give helps them out in some
way. Besides, there is not a better way to help our community out than to help out the
future of our community. If the students of our community get a good education, the less
violence we would have, less drugs because the students would have learned in school that
drugs are bad for them. They would know that drugs would not only hurt them but all the
people around them. Their friends, family, and other close relatives are some of the other
people that get hurt by drugs.
Advertising our community to other
people. Make our community sound good to other people and maybe we can get more people
into our community. Tell people it is a nice,
clean, safe, and happy place to live. I think that if we do that the word will get around
about our community and maybe more people will move to our community. The more people in a
neighborhood the more money. The more money the community gets the better the community
will be because it will have more money to spend on the roads, police force, firefighters,
and other community organizations.
Maybe one of the most important ways
that we can do to help our community is to do what we believe is right. We have that
freedom in our constitution so why not use that right. We can choose what organization at
school we want to give money to and maybe others that we don't want to give any money to.
I feel that all of these ways are
excellent ways we can help our community and there are probably many other ways that we
can do for our community. We don't have to do them all and we don't have to do any. It is
our choice and I feel that we will do whatever we believe is the right way to make our
community a better place.
