Traditions - Fourth of July

"More and more members of our family have taken up running for fun and health. The annual 4th of July Firecracker Run in Santa Cruz has become a family tradition. Afterwards family runners shower, change clothes and everyone gathers for a picnic at a wooded park or a barbecue on the beach."
Ardath, Monterey, California

"My father has his own business and Fourth of July has always been a time when employees and our family get together in an informal setting. We have come to view long-time employees and their children as extended family due to this tradition."
Louis, South Dakota

"A tradition the Hawkins family has on the 4th of July is to get with family and go down to Riverfront Park, sit on the balcony at my dad's office and eat candy, popcorn, chips and pop while watching fireworks. Also we sometimes go to Kettle Falls to visit an uncle and aunt."
Anna Hawkins, Washington

"On the 4th of July, my family usually goes down to Gonzaga University. What we do is we go to the store and get food. Then we go to Gonzaga and play football until the fireworks start. Then we sit down as a family and eat and watch fireworks. And that's mainly what we do on the 4th of July."
Karl Womack, Washington
