Traditions - Halloween

"When I was young, my mother invited my classmates to an annual Halloween party where prizes were given for several categories of costumes. It was my own private version of what went on at school and I remember feeling very proud and important. We painted Jack-O-Lanterns, bobbed for apples and in the last couple years, made taffy apples and pop corn. These parties lasted from kindergarten through fifth grade."
John, San Francisco, California

"We always decorate the front yard for Halloween, with funny tombstones, eerie lights and scary audio tapes. We usually include a scarecrow-type witch doing something interesting. We make more of Halloween decorations than we do Christmas decorations."
Lloyd, Denver, Colorado

"Almost every night on Halloween we go to my uncles' houses to go trick-or-treating and we also go to my neighborhood. I like going trick-or-treating. This year we went in my neighborhood and I went with my friends. It was fun. We also go to haunted houses too."
Alex Heffelfinger, Washington
