"We always make Report Card Night a solemn occasion. So
far it has been a festive, solemn occasion, marked with
Congratulation cakes and the children's own assessments of their
achievements. It is interesting to note that children expect more
of themselves than the teachers do. It is not strange since only
they realize what they are capable of achieving- 'with a little
more effort.' We have contingency plans for unfavorable report
cards which involve strategizing for ways to improve, rather than
placing blame."

"My wife and I make it a point to attend all plays,
recitals and games which involve any one of our children. We
dress up when appropriate to honor the participants and end the
affair with a family outing at the local ice cream parlor."
