"Many people in the community are more than willing to
help people that need it but simply don't know how. I believe
that the only way that we will be able to take care of the poor
is to let the comfortable people know how they can help. ...Some
organizations already use newspapers as well as TV and radio to
promote their programs. If the opportunities to serve are made
readily available to the general public, I believe that the
response would be overwhelming. If we work together with
obtainable goals in mind, nothing can stop us."
Robert A. Braxton, Armwood High School, Seffner, Florida
Making opportunities to serve readily available to the public is one of the main goals of Another Way. We have all encountered experiences when circumstances permitted us to give some time or make a donation but it just didn't happen maybe because we didn't know how to go about it, where to find the necessary information or who would make the best use of our offering.
Coordination is required for anything to run smoothly and efficiently. At a local Volunteer Corps Center, rotating members of the truly Volunteer Corps constantly update information displayed on a community web page on the internet. Battalion leaders are able to post requests for donations of time and goods and also post offers to provide volunteer services and describe available donations. Joint projects are a natural consequence. Sharing information and resources results in efficiencies for all concerned.
