Lend your name to Another Way. Endorsements from community service shows you care and is a powerful incentive to your constituents. Send letters of commendation to schools, churches, nonprofits and public officials when you hear about efforts to improve communities. Eliminate laws and programs that discourage volunteers. Use your influence to see that local governments provide insurance for participants of the truly Volunteer Corps. Work to see that legislation is enacted to put donations of time -- energy and goods and services -- on a level with donations of money. Join with colleagues to establish the truly Volunteer Corps as an entity recognized and honored as a national service similar in many ways to the National Guard and branches of the armed services. In your speeches, point out the benefits of having nationally recognized credentials with high standards that educational institutions and employers can count on. Become aware of the chump factor and convince your colleagues and national politicians to take action to alleviate it. Understand that people want more services and less taxes -- there is no other way to fill that bill. Another Way  is the only answer we see. If you have another answer, please convince us and we will put our energy behind a new plan.

Your participation will let others like these high school students know that the world is full of good people who care. Your action today will say to young people like these that adults are not apathetic. You will affirm what these young people already believe; that many people all over the world are willing and anxious to change things.
