The United States would not be the country with the largest percentage of volunteers if it were not for the religious institutions which have always been an integral part of every American community. Hundreds of thousands of people of goodwill gather weekly, or more often, in churches, synagogues, temples and mosques and from this center they strive to make a difference in their communities. The Another Way program allows congregants to maximize the results of their efforts. This efficiency is not purchased with dollars, because service via Another Way does not depend on financial support. People who become aware of a need are able to act immediately in accordance with their religious beliefs by caring in a very personal way for their neighbors. Another Way seeks to remove disincentives for instance, by lobbying for more expansive Good Samaritan laws and to provide even more incentives.
Another Way helps religious institutions carry out various programs aimed at providing security and offering social support. Another Way reinforces in the community the values that are instilled in children through religious and home instruction. Acts speak more powerfully than words and Another Way is a catalyst to action. Adults are able to serve as role models and their contributions are recognized by the larger community so that they gain the respect of their children and reflect upon their institutions. Most of all Another Way is a tool that allows religious institutions to help their members achieve a better life for themselves and their children.
