Work with teachers at your school. Become aware of little things that might make your community a better place to live and make suggestions. Practice the slogan Block by Block and Pass It On. Introduce teachers to the White Hats program which uncovers and honors the many good things already going on in your community. If your principal and teachers are not receptive, share your ideas with other groups: religious, scouts etc. Be determined! You and your family can even adopt a project. But remember, do not allow your children to work alone -- it can be dangerous.
If Another Way is not yet established in your community, you may be the one to get the ball rolling. If, at this stage in your life, you can't afford the time commitment demanded to initiate a new idea, there are less time consuming things you can do immediately that will have a large impact. Your participation will let others like these high school students know that the world is full of good people who care. Your action today will say to young people like these that adults are not apathetic. You will affirm what these young people already believe; that many people all over the world are willing and anxious to change things.
