Programs are intended to make people aware that some choices help and others only seem to help but really do more harm than good. The Foundation's workbook series is a step in this direction. In the workbooks, students encounter the "unintended consequences" connected with social policy. They are required to request and analyze information from local and state authorities, and to solicit the help from members of the media and the opinions of influential members of their communities. The workbooks include pages which are turned into the Foundation for evaluation and recognition.
The first volume was tested by approximately 100 students in a classroom situation in 1994.
